I found a nice basic article discussing some of the differences in acting for the camera and acting for the stage. Some key things mentioned are that there is a lot a more demanded of an actor physically on stage, they must be able to be heard and they need the stamina to keep on performing the show. Also, for film, scenes will most likely not be shot chronologically but by practicality, this requires the actor to always know where they are in the story and what things their character knows and doesn't know. I remember watching a "making of" and one of the actors saying that they shot the final scene first. This article touches upon some of the differences one may encounter.
